The Gwent Boys Matchplay Championship was played at St. Mellons Golf Club on Monday/Tuesday 24th/25th October.
Championship winner was Joshua Davies of Dewstow, who defeated James Casey of Newport in the final by 2 & 1.
The match was all square after 14 holes but James pulled his drive into the hedge on the short Par 4 15th hole and lost the hole to go 1 down with 3 to play. The Par 4 16th was halved in 4’s and Joshua chipped in on the 17th for a birdie 3 and the match.
Well done Josh, fantastic achievement ..
